I brought several thematic music programs with me. To express our gratitude to our new Brailes friends for their warm hospitality, we treated them to the ever-popular Jungle Jive party on our last night in the village.
Lina drew and individually colored the invitations, which were then hand-delivered. Costumes were encouraged. We decorated Lou’s garden shed with vines, flowers, and greenery. I set up her CD player, and the gals hung evocative tapestries. No one uses ice chests over there, so we improvised a cooler for beer and wine. Lina concocted a special green beverage dubbed Jungle Juice, and the event was pot-luck.
In the still-light evening, the guests began to arrive, the music started, and we found ourselves in a tropical rainforest in the middle of rural England.
After dark, Fran let loose a Sky Lantern.
The dancing went on until 1:40 a.m., and every bottle was emptied.
I can now rightfully claim that my celebrations have worldwide appeal.
